The Daedalus 3018 upgrade kit is a Y-axis stretch for 3018 frames from makers other than Genmitsu. It takes the Y axis from 290 mm to 450 mm long, which Daedalus turns into a 300 × 320 mm actual cutting stroke.

Daedalus lists three conditions a frame has to meet. Measure all three before ordering, because a kit that misses one will not bolt up without machining.

Both Daedalus kits add something to X. The standard kit fits an aluminium knob to the X screw; the work-panel kit adds a 390 mm T8 lead screw with the knob, plus a work panel for the longer bed.
A knob on X is a small upgrade with daily use. Turning a bare screw end by hand to nudge the gantry for tool changes or setup leaves oily fingers and poor control; a knob gives a grip and a feel for each millimetre.
The work panel is what justifies the heavier kit. After a Y stretch, the stock 3018 bed is still 180 mm deep, so the new stroke has nothing to hold stock on unless the bed grows too.

On a non-Genmitsu frame that passes the fit test, the Daedalus kit is the direct option, and the X knob comes free with it. On a Genmitsu, the maker's own kit avoids any doubt about hole positions and parts.
A stretch is worth it when parts are long and light. If the frustration is chatter in aluminium or stalling in hardwood, length will not fix it, and the spindle or frame is the better place to spend.
Budget an afternoon for the swap itself. The Y axis comes apart, the new parts go in, the frame is squared, and the wiring is re-routed, the same job as any 3018 extension kit.
