A box of longer Y parts for a 3018-PRO or 3018-MX3: two 450 mm extrusions, two 450 mm rails and a 454 mm T8 lead screw that stretch the bed's travel to 370 mm.
The Genmitsu 3018 Y-axis extension kit replaces the short parts of the Y axis with long ones. Two 2040 aluminium extrusions, two linear rails and one T8 lead screw, all around 450 mm, go in where the 3018's originals came out.
The result is a 3040. Genmitsu quotes 370 mm of Y movement after the swap, and the bit bundle's text quotes 320 mm of usable travel; the gap is the carriage and clamp room at each end. The X axis stays at 300 mm, since the gantry is untouched.

The kit also keeps the machine a 3018 in every habit you have built. Zeroing, probing, the offline controller and the same bits all work as before, which makes it a gentler step than learning a new machine.
What it does not add is stiffness or power. The 3018-PRO's 775 spindle, Z travel and frame plates are all the same afterwards, so feeds and depths per pass carry over from the short machine.
Genmitsu names the 3018-PRO and 3018-MX3 as targets and calls it a fit for most 3018 frames. The Genmitsu 3018-PRO is the machine it was drawn around.

The install is a Y-axis teardown and rebuild. Nothing is cut or drilled, but the bed, its carriage and the Y motor all come off, so budget an unhurried afternoon.
The wiring is where most rebuilds stall. The Y motor and Y limit switch now sit further from the controller, and the original leads may not reach. Genmitsu's MDF bundle includes a 1 m Y limit cable for that reason.
The new screw is the same T8 as the old one: 2 mm pitch with four starts, so 8 mm of travel per turn. Steps per millimetre do not change.
The software change is small. GRBL stores each axis's maximum travel as a numbered setting, typed in the console with a dollar sign in front, and on a machine that homes or uses soft limits, the Y value must grow to match the new length.
In CAM, update the machine's bed size too, so toolpaths near the far end are not clipped. Candle, UGS and Easel all read the job's size from the file, not from the machine.
The bed is the other half of the job. The stock 3018 bed is still 180 mm deep, so a 360 mm workpiece overhangs it unless the bed grows as well. Genmitsu sells the kit four ways:

Genmitsu also makes a 3040 aluminium spoilboard for its PROVer V2 extension kit. That one is a bed only, drawn for the V2 frame, and it does not fit this 3018-PRO kit.
Three roads lead to a bigger bed than 300 × 180 mm. They differ in what they touch on the machine and in how much of the old 3018 survives.

The Daedalus kit asks the frame for 8 mm T8 screws, 10 mm guide rods and end plates without counterbores, and it adds a knob or screw on X. The Genmitsu kit is drawn for Genmitsu's own parts, which makes it the lower-risk fit on a 3018-PRO or MX3.
Cost of ownership is part of the choice as well. A kit keeps the spindle, controller and spares you already own, while a new machine brings its own set of parts to learn and stock.
