- Keeps chips off the bench
- 52mm
- Fits 52mm-spindle 3018s
A clear, three-part magnetic shroud that bolts around a 42 mm spindle, sweeps the cut with a 40 mm nylon brush and hands the chips to a shop vacuum through a 38 mm port.
MDF is the most useful sheet on a 3018 and the messiest. A 1/8 in bit turns it into fine powder that coats the rails, drifts into the leadscrews and hangs in the air. The Genmitsu dust shoe wraps the 775 spindle, closes the gap to the stock with a 40 mm nylon brush and feeds everything into a vacuum hose before it spreads.
The design points that matter:
It fits spindles 42 mm (1.65 in) across with two 4 mm screw holes. That covers the 775 motor on the Genmitsu 3018-PRO, the PROVer family, the 3018-MX3, the 1810-PRO and the 4040-PRO, plus generic 3018-PRO machines that use the same motor.
Plywood and softwood throw chips as well as dust. The brush keeps those inside the shroud, where the vacuum collects them, instead of scattering them across the spoilboard and over the clamps. A clear bed between passes also makes it easier to spot a part lifting or a clamp working loose.

The brush does its best work when its tips sit level with the tip of the bit. Too long, and it drags across the stock before the bit reaches it; too short, and suction escapes around the edges. Genmitsu's own guidance is to trim the bristles to suit the bit length, or to fit the replacement bottom cover with a 20 mm brush.
| Job | How the shoe behaves | Adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| MDF, plywood cut-outs | Best case: fine dust, steady suction | None |
| V-carving signs | Short bit stick-out, brush may drag | Trim the brush or use the 20 mm cover |
| Cast acrylic | Chips are larger and can be warm | Keep the feed up so chips stay solid |
| Aluminium sheet | Chips collected, no coolant allowed near MDF | Dry cutting only on an MDF bed |
| Laser engraving | Not used; the laser replaces the spindle | Remove the shoe |
Signs the setup needs attention:
Clamp height matters as much as bit length. Low-profile side clamps stay under the brush; tall top clamps catch it, so route toolpaths around them or switch to edge clamping.
A dust shoe does not replace eye protection or a mask for MDF work. It removes most of the dust at the source, and the rest still needs a well-aired room.
Installation takes three steps and two screws. The top cover is the only part that bolts on; everything else attaches by magnets, which is why bit changes stay quick with the shoe in place.
For a bit change, pop the bottom cover off, swap the bit in the collet, and refit the cover; the job needs no tools, and the top cover never moves.
Hose routing decides whether the shoe helps or hinders:
Where the brush wears out, replace the whole bottom cover rather than rebuilding the bristles; that is the job the spare cover in the bundle is for.
The dust shoe comes alone or bundled with a replacement bottom cover carrying a 20 mm brush. The two covers split the jobs: the 40 mm brush for long end mills and through-cuts, the 20 mm brush for V-bits and short engraving tools.
The shoe is tied to the spindle, so the spindle decides which shoe to buy:
| Spindle | Dust shoe |
|---|---|
| Stock 775 or GS-775M, 42 mm | This Genmitsu 42 mm shoe |
| 300–500W, 52 mm | A 52 mm shoe, such as the LUNYEE 52 mm |
| Trim router, 65 or 69 mm | Genmitsu's 65/69 mm shoe |
The 42 mm size also survives the most common spindle swap. Owners who replace the stock 775 with Genmitsu's 20,000 rpm GS-775M keep the same diameter, so the shoe moves across with two screws.
Upgrading to the aluminium Z assembly and a 52 mm spindle later means a new shoe as well, so factor that into the plan.
What to confirm on the machine first:
For the rest of the order in which parts pay back, see 3018 upgrades; the same shoe also comes bundled with the 3018-PRO kit.
Yes, on its 42 mm 775 spindle. It also fits the 3018-PRO, PROVer, PROVer Mach3, 3018-MX3, 1810-PRO and 4040-PRO.
The port measures 32 mm inside and 38 mm (1.5 in) outside, so a 32 mm hose end plugs in or a 1.5 in cuff fits over.
No. The bottom cover is magnetic and pops off by hand; the top cover stays on the spindle.
Trim the bristles so their tips sit level with the bit tip, or fit the replacement bottom cover with the 20 mm brush.
No. It is sized for 42 mm spindles; 300–500W motors need a 52 mm dust shoe.
