- 300 × 180 × 80 mm
- 500W spindle motor
- All-metal frame
A 3018 rebuilt for metal: a 500W spindle running up to 12,000 rpm, an all-metal frame on 12 mm rods, 80 mm of Z travel, and six limit switches, an E-stop and an offline controller in the box.
Most 3018s are wood machines that can scratch metal. The LUNYEE 3018 Pro Max comes at the format from the other end: a 500W spindle with a speed range up to 12,000 rpm, an all-metal frame of reinforced aluminium profiles, and no plastic parts apart from the electrics. It keeps the 300 × 180 mm bed and adds the stiffness and power that soft metal asks for.
What sets it apart from a 775-spindle 3018:
Rapid moves top out at 5,000 mm/min, and LUNYEE quotes carving precision of ±0.1 mm. Those are the ceiling; the working figure on any job depends on the bit, the stock and how it is held.
Copper is a rewarding first metal on this frame. It engraves with a bright edge, cuts predictably at modest feeds, and shows at once whether the spindle is trammed. Aluminium follows with a single-flute carbide bit and small steps down.

The Pro Max handles the usual 3018 materials faster and adds metals that smaller machines only tolerate. The 0–12,000 rpm range lets the spindle slow for aluminium and speed up for wood, and the extra power holds that speed under load.
| Material | Typical job | What the Pro Max adds |
|---|---|---|
| Oak, walnut, maple | Trays, relief carving, boxes | Deep Z for tall blanks |
| MDF, plywood | Signs, cut-outs, jigs | Faster cutting with less bit deflection |
| Cast acrylic, PVC | Panels, badges, enclosures | Spindle speed turned down to avoid melting |
| PCB | Prototype boards | A stiff frame for even isolation cuts |
| Copper, aluminium | Plates, brackets, pockets | Power and rigidity for real material removal |
Its limits are those of the format:
Aluminium rewards patience on this machine more than power. Start with a 1/8 in single-flute bit, light steps down and an air blast or brush to clear chips, then creep the feed up while the cut stays quiet.
The Pro Max also switches between spindle and engraving modes. Its control board has a reserved 12V 3-pin port for a laser module, bought separately, which turns it into a 2-in-1 cutter and engraver. The modules that fit are compared on laser engravers for the 3018.
For the 3018 Pro Max family as a whole, including the 775-spindle kits sold under the same name, turn to the 3018 Pro Max page.
The Pro Max ships as a kit. LUNYEE provides installation and wiring videos and a 4 GB USB flash drive with the software pre-loaded, and describes the assembly as straightforward with the instructions. The first evening goes on building, wiring and a homing test.
The handwheels are a small detail that pays off on metal. Winding the spindle down to a scribed line by hand is more precise than jogging in 0.1 mm steps, and it works with the steppers disabled.
Software the Pro Max works with:
The 3018 software guide covers senders, CAM and GRBL settings in more detail.
Several 3018-sized machines now carry 500W spindles. They share the bed size and the spindle class and differ in frame, motion system and extras. LUNYEE's own step up, the Pro Ultra, keeps the Pro Max's 500W spindle and 300 × 180 × 80 mm area and fits an X-axis linear guide.
| Machine | Spindle | Motion | Z / area |
|---|---|---|---|
| LUNYEE 3018 Pro Max | 500W, 12,000 rpm | Optical axis, T-type screw | 80 mm, 300 × 180 |
| LUNYEE 3018 Pro Ultra | 500W | X-axis linear guide | 80 mm, 300 × 180 |
| WolfPawn 3018 500W | 500W, 12,000 rpm | All-metal frame | 60 mm, 300 × 180 |
| ACMER Ascarva 3S | 500W, 12,000 rpm | Aluminium alloy frame | 78 mm, 300 × 180 |
The table hides one practical difference: what ships with each machine. The Pro Max ships with its switches, stop button, handwheels, offline controller and a USB drive of software, so the machine is complete on arrival. Check each rival for the same items before comparing on spindle and frame alone.
The Pro Max makes sense when:
Pick the Pro Ultra instead if the work leans toward brass and aluminium detail, where a linear guide on X adds stiffness; its page is LUNYEE 3018 Pro Ultra. The bundle with 40 end mills suits anyone starting without a bit collection. On the practical side, it needs a bench that takes 13 kg, a socket for the 48V supply and a plan for dust.
Its Z travel is 80 mm, the longest among standard 3018s according to LUNYEE, with a 300 × 180 mm working area.
Yes. The 500W spindle and all-metal frame are built for aluminium and copper, in shallow passes with sharp single-flute bits.
Yes. It comes with a GRBL offline controller that runs files without a computer attached.
Yes. The control board has a reserved 12V 3-pin port; the laser module is sold separately.
Both have a 500W spindle and 300 × 180 × 80 mm travel; the Ultra swaps the X-axis optical rods for a linear guide.
