- 300 × 180 × 45 mm
- 775 brushed spindle, ER11 collet
- Offline controller: runs without a PC
Two quite different machines share the VEVOR 3018 name: a light 60W engraver on a 6061 aluminium frame, and a 500W Pro Max with 80 mm of Z, six limit switches and a card-reading controller.
VEVOR sells its 3018 as two machines, and they differ more than a spindle swap. The 60W version is a compact aluminium engraver with 40 mm of Z; the 500W version is a heavier Pro Max frame with 80 mm of Z, limit switches, an E-stop and an offline controller.
Both keep the 300 × 180 mm bed and both can grow to 400 mm on Y. Both run GRBL 1.1f on a 32-bit board and ship with Candle, so the software side looks the same from the computer.
VEVOR quotes repeat positioning of ≤0.07 mm for the 60W and ≤0.06 mm for the 500W. Those figures describe how closely the machine returns to a point, not how deep or fast it can cut.
The 500W model pre-assembles and pre-wires its main parts, and VEVOR describes it as switching between CNC and engraving modes. The VEVOR 3018 entry covers the brand's pair in more detail.

Sixty watts is modest power, and it shapes what the smaller VEVOR is good at. It engraves and carves shallow detail cleanly, and it slows down in thick or hard stock where a 500W spindle keeps going.
Spindle speed on the 60W model is a dial on the machine. For small engraving bits, a higher speed gives a cleaner line; for a 1/8-inch end mill in wood, a steady middle speed and a slow feed keep the motor from bogging down.
| Job | 60W VEVOR | 500W VEVOR |
|---|---|---|
| V-carved lettering in maple | Good at shallow depth | Good, faster |
| PVC foam nameplates | Good, keep the feed up | Good |
| Cast acrylic engraving | Good with a single-flute bit | Good |
| 6 mm plywood cut-outs | Many shallow passes | Fewer, deeper passes |
| Thick hardwood relief | Limited by 40 mm of Z | 80 mm of Z helps |
| Aluminium | Engraving only | Light pockets and plates |
A low-power spindle rewards small bits and patience. Work in passes of 0.5 mm or less in hardwood, and let the machine run longer rather than forcing the depth.
Spindle life also depends on load. VEVOR's current-detection protection guards against stalls, but a motor that is pushed near its limit on every pass runs hot, and heat is what shortens motor life. The ≤75 dB rating is the 60W's quiet advantage in a flat or a shared room. For material settings beyond these, the materials and first cuts entry works through feeds by material.
Setup on either VEVOR follows the usual GRBL route. Candle comes in the box, the machine connects over USB to Windows, Mac or Linux, and Easel also works for simple sign designs.
The 500W model adds LightBurn to the supported list, which matters to owners who plan to fit a laser module and run both heads from the same frame. Its 1.8-inch offline controller runs jobs without a computer attached.
On the 60W model, the knob sets speed directly, so S values in the G-code may not change the spindle. Check which control the machine follows before relying on either.
A spoilboard goes on before the first through-cut. Both frames benefit from an MDF layer between the stock and the aluminium bed.
Most buyers weighing a VEVOR 3018 are also looking at Genmitsu's 3018-PRO and, at the top end, the LUNYEE Pro Max. The comparison depends on which VEVOR is in question.
The 60W VEVOR and the Genmitsu 3018-PRO are both starter machines. The Genmitsu brings a 775 spindle, an offline controller in the box and a wide range of brand-made add-ons, from Z assemblies to lasers. The VEVOR brings a 32-bit board, a quiet low-power spindle and an aluminium body.
| Point | VEVOR 60W | VEVOR 500W | Genmitsu 3018-PRO |
|---|---|---|---|
| Z travel | 40 mm | 80 mm | 45 mm |
| Spindle | 60W | 500W | 775 motor |
| Offline control | Not listed | 1.8-inch controller | Included |
| Limit switches, E-stop | Not listed | 6 switches, E-stop | Add-ons |
The 500W VEVOR competes with the LUNYEE 3018 Pro Max, which shares the 80 mm Z, the six switches and the offline controller. The choice there comes down to frame details and the parts each brand sells around the machine. LUNYEE also offers the Pro Ultra with a linear rail on X, a step further for owners who lean toward brass and aluminium.
Before ordering, decide on the heaviest material in the plan. That single answer settles which VEVOR, if either, fits the bench. Then check the footprint: the 500W frame weighs close to twice the 60W, needs a solid bench that does not rock during cuts, and needs space around it for the handwheels to turn.
The 60W has 40 mm of Z and knob speed control. The 500W has 80 mm of Z, six limit switches, an E-stop, XYZ handwheels and a 1.8-inch offline controller.
VEVOR states both versions can expand to 400 mm on the Y axis.
Candle is included, and it works with GRBL 1.1f software such as Easel. VEVOR also lists LightBurn for the 500W model.
Only for engraving. For pockets and plates in aluminium, the 500W model or another 500W frame is the better match.
